My understanding is that Disco management may announce before that they will be closed, to keep those "religious heroes" calm, but they might open anyway. Batam is often unpredictable.
I would really appreciate if any kind soul with insiders in Pacific and Newton would drop me a line with latest news

Things are not so bad in Batam, as the ones I seen in Jakarta.
One true fact is the time are shorter, does not mean that they are closed. Some bo chup, continue, but for shorter hours.
Disco are definately shorter hours and close earlier, massage are as per normal. Even they front door says "close", there are people who can take you thru back door. Just open your eyes, of cos, be more discreet.
As for the middle of the month closing for a day.. It depends on the joint.
As advised, stay low for a while.
