Dear Dormicum15,
It is a good news to hear that you have finally make up your mind to do checkup for STD. Congrats on finally being responsible toyour own body.
There are a whole lot of tests to be done.
DSC clinic:
They offer a whole range of tests - but they are the expert in Sexually Transmitted Diseases. So they are the specialist. Also, because it is a government polyclinic, you pay subsidised rate if you are Singaporean.
Medication are all subsidised too. So why not?
Polyclinic:
The queues are too long and doctors will usually refer you to DSC clinic or the skin centre. Why bother when you can go to the DSC clinic direct?
GP:
You can go to GP. If your long time GP has built the long term relationship with you I don't see the reason why not? However, medication and laboratory tests can be really expensive because GPs are private doctors. In case they need to refer you to specialists, you are charged as a pvt patient rate - you do not get subsidised.
It really depends on what you really want to pay? But to end it all, I would encourage you to also give yourself a test for HIV infection.
For HIV infection, you can do it either DSC, Polyclinic or GP. You can also do it annonymous with AfA on either Wed evening or Sat afternoon at just S$20.
Good luck and hope all is well with you.
