What I learnt from my experiences.

1. Dating App profile - try to put in your profile picture with a suit or jacket. First impressions count. If you look handsome or yandao or fitzai, half the battle won. But a smile, some personal grooming and hygiene and take good realistic but profile pictures with jacket or suit helps a lot.

2. Most FDW/Maids/Caregivers are single mothers or married but separated (not divorced) because many FDWs are Catholics and in Catholicism there is no concept of divorce.

3. Most if not all will at one point in time ask for help for family expenses, children's education, elderly parents medical bills, house damaged by natural disasters etc. As men, we are hardwired to want to "solve" their problems by giving money. Resist this as much as you can. The way to overcome this is to use the next step, i.e. empathy, or tender loving care.

4. Most FDWs are alone in Singapore. Even if they have cousins, friends from their village from Phils etc, they are still alone and have to survive on their own. So small gestures like buying them a decent meal at kopitiam or food court goes a long way with tender loving care. Almost ALL will respond to a listening ear and empathy statements e.g. "Not easy for you", "You are a good mother working hard for your children etc..."

5. Those that are money faced, even before meet up already ask for top-ups, money I quickly drop and stop communicating. It is a numbers game (at least for me), move on to the next target.

6. Don't act superior and look down on them. They all have their pride just like us and give them the respect.
