Heads up on potential scam. Not sure if any bros here encountered such an experience.
I had just tapow nasi Padang at a road side stall and was going to get a Grab back when a guy on a motorcycle stopped and asked me if I know where Batam Centre is. Mind you this was in Penuin at 10.30pm.
I told him he was a long way off his destination when he started saying how his wife’s purse got stolen and there was like SGD2k in it and the hotel staff lent him a bike to go to Batam Centre to report his loss with the Singapore consulate (consulate still open at 10.30pm meh?)
What’s even weirder was he had a kid like 3 or 4 yrs old straddling the front of the bike. So I told him to go ask any hotel security for directions. He mumbled something and I just carried on walking until I reached Savrano Hotel and waited for my ride.
Like 10mins later this same fella rides up and yells “I still cannot find Batam Centre!
By this time I’m like WTF dude and just then my ride pulls up and I waved the biker and his kid off.
So bros - any of you guys came across such a thing in Batam?
