It depends on individual preference. For me, when I went Batam 1st time, I already tried to go to my hotel(former Formosa) by walking using Google Map. Ever since, each time I visit batam, I will always walk to the hotel from the ferry terminal even if I have friends tagging along 😁
You get to see some places you don't usually see as transport/tourists normally will not pass by the area.
