I was close with one back in uni days. Unlike those SG girls, she is not materialistic. I buy her a simple gift like a soft toy and she was already very happy. I got caught in the rain once on the way to her hostel. She made me tea and helped me blow my hair dry. She was really good wife material.
I observe that many of her friends are like this too. I think it is because Myanmar is still quite a conservative country and still instill values like treating their man well.
Too bad things did not work out between us. I still think about it occasionally. Sigh.
