Sounds like Formosa hotel fengshui is 左青龙，右白虎，前朱雀，后玄武 to me.

A lot of information I have wrote,many of it I have written for reason/s to allow myself to back track my pace and future trip-plan-reference if I ever need to,but it has also become info references for some bros who were travelling to Batam as well. Yes,i agree with you but I would say that is more for new visitors in Batam. For myself,i have mainly 1 or 2 regular money changer to cross reference with. In the beginning,i have told them I wont be returning to them EVER if I find them not giving me the BEST rate (that's if I ever move around to make comparison). Nowaday,the rate can at times be send to me via sms,hehehe...or just a call away. Not much effort needed.

2 more fairly alright hotels that has dropped its price since when I 1st started 2 years ago in Batam was Gideon and Goodway. They used to be priced at similar price with Formosa's S$67 in 2014 but both were around S$50 (even below) today.

That's the power of competition. More hotels coming up with not enough tourist to stay in,everyone fighting for market share especially with the many 3 star hotel around. It all benefits the end-user like myself.

I think below 200k would be relatively be quite rare unless you wish to pick Hotel 18 and the New Hill Home stay hotel.

If I don't remember wrong,w/o breakfast at Hotel18 was 180k per night stay. Still quite a good value as their location was near the Utama area/Nagoya Hill Mall. Basic on most of nearly everything there, like wifi,air-con,toilet etc for a good bonk were provided. With more of such hotels coming up,no wonder many hotel management felt threatened, hehehe...
