Mayflower have increased their price from 850 to 950.... not just for Octobers.:p

Hatyai Garden Homes Hotel, old and cozy hotel, rooms are renovated (but the toilets don't seemed to be improved), cost 645 for Std Rooms, no need to book thru agents, can call direct 074234444 or +6674234444. Previously the wifi was bad news, now wifi is available in rooms. Strong signal. Right at SKY.

Mayflower prices had increase permanently already and other than Garden Home, you can try these hotels almost the same price like Garden Home but walking distant to town centre. They are a bit old though.

They are Hatyai Centre, VL Hotel or Siam City! :D
