not advisable to go on nov unless u dam hard up. Nov if u are lucky only kena raining, sway sway, just flood only. so far worst flood 10 years once. so worst flood just pass, u still have 80% of luck. Enjoy!!!!!

Simple FR during my last month 6D4N trip to HY.
1st day - 11.30pm reached msia after clearing custom 2nd link from sg.
2nd day - drove all the way to Msia-Thai custom. Reached around 8am (7am thai).
After clearing immigration, check into a 500bath hotel n have a good rest at Danok. Stay there one night. Not going to mention the activities there cos this is HY thread. Only can said Danok had been spoil by many cheongster.

3rd day late morning- drive to HY. Once reached, straight away proceed to the mountain to pray (4 face buddha, Guan Yin, etc). After praying, went to have lunch near Lee Garden. Then check rate for hotel cos i always stay at the same hotel intro by one of my season frd.
Check Lee Garden (about 1100baht- lousy room i see),
sakura new (not bad cos lots of sg stay there - about 900++ baht or 850++baht cant remember. But location not very good in terms of makan at night).
Regency hotel old wing. (720 baht - room still can stay but some how a bit old - kiv).
New season hotel (900++ or 1000++ baht cant remember. room new a the hotel also quite new but dun intend to stay)
May Flower hotel (850++ baht, new hotel, room quite clean but somehow dun intend to stay there.
Finally, proceed to Golden crown plaza hotel, (went there and book 4 rooms. Pay 800bath and receptionist that i know said boss increased to 850bath liao. LL pay cos find it better than those hotel that i visit in terms of price and location within this range.)

After checkin, call for traditional masaage. 240baht for 2 hours (some only press for 1haf hours). Some offer ping pong massage, 500 all in (which i told my frds earlier). 2 went for it. After massage, went to farms and see see look look, oh my all mi tou fo, all jialat look or figure. Went back to hotel and ask bell boy to intro. manage to take one for everyone of us at 2300baht.

Yup i know the tickets are cheap now and y they are so cheap? Is it nobody 1 2 goes?
Anyway, dun worry bro, the jialat flood usually happens only in 10 years. Just that during nov, its raining season and it flood easily in HY. No scare, enjoy urslf.

ok, the next day, went to sakura new hotel to massage. before reaching hotel, went to a shop to buy massage voucher. Cheaper by 40baths. (200 instead of 240baht, any travel agency or chinese medical shop may have sell). Real traditional massage using their mattress is totally dif from our hotel bed cos our hotel bed too much spring. After a good clean massage, went to have meals at one of the coffee shop. After makan, went to kfc look see look see again. Still cant find one that suits (maybe havent mabo yet). Go to TOPS sunpermarket and bought 24 bottles of Heineken, few ladies drinks like SPY, etc and go back hotel drink again. After finished 12 bottles, ask the bell boy to bring gals again. This time different bell boy but i know also. quoted 2500baht. F him upside down and say if i go myslf, 1600-2000 i can get already. Give u 2300baht v good leh.

So brought a few, after 2-3 rounds of selections, all manage to get one.

Newbie in Hatyai needs some advise from senior bros.

I am going there tonight for the weekend. Given that this is the start of the school holidays, I thought may be best to book via local tour agent first. So called up Lovely Tour.

After some bargaining, we agreed on 820 baht per night for 2 nights. But she say since I am arriving at night, taxi fare will be 330. Thought it is bit above mkt but still agreed.

Then she call me later & say no driver coz late. So must pay 400. Feeling carrot-head but still agreed as it is convenient for newbie. Five mins ago, she called me, say driver wants 500.

Really pissed & told her to FO. I know going to be Robert but this is just too much.

Can I check with bros, is this normal? I am only agreeing to pickup as it is the only way to buy vouchers as tour agents are closed. Is tger Amy chance for me to get taxi & hotel vouchers from airport?

any other hotel can recommend ?

just call Lovely tour, rates for Mayflower 950 bt. they say increase already.

820 baht for what is your arrangement? There are taxi waiting at the airport for your arrival already, why do you need to request voucher in advance? For chance, you may target someone taking the same flight as you and tag to share the taxi fare. If not, there is a cheaper option to take the mini-van, from the airport exit door on your left, you could buy the mini-van ticket from the desk that take you anywhere in the city. For hotel reservation, you could try compare with 707 tour agency @+6674243138/+6674261494/+6674239417. There are many other tour agency there in the city too.

Thanks Cupnoodle for your prompt response. The 820 is for Golden Crown Plaza (which seems a fav of bros here) & seems to be a good price.

The taxi voucher is kinda of like package coz I will land around 9pm & she say tour agent closed. So only way she can pass me hotel voucher is to pick me up from airport.

I really didn't mind the 400 airport pickup as it would made my life a lot easier. But when she tried again at 500, I just had to walk off...

Will post my FRs when there :D

Did you tell her you're a newbie ?.......or either she sensed that you are 1st timer from your conversations...... definitely she is taking advantage of you here.

Actually no need to book taxi in advance as taxis are available at the airport...... just ignore the touts and proceed to the taxi counter (there will oso be touts pretending to help out at the counter)..... but the counter girl is the one in uniform...... buy only from her. (You tell her your destination and pay her and in return she will give you a perforated receipt with the destination and taxi number written on it)..... you then proceed to the taxi queue to look for your taxi...... tear the perforated part of the receipt with the destination and give it to the taxi driver...... keep the part with the taxi number as the TAT / tourist police will ask for it if the driver try anything funny and you lodge a complaint.

Some drivers will ask you for the whole receipt...... do not give it to them as once they have it...... they will start their okt sales talk nonsense or make detours to "show" you the farms / ktvs and pressure you to take girl.

Finally the fare is fixed price and is much cheaper than what Lovely Tour quoted you. :p

I tried to be professional liao, offered 280 when she first quote me :cool: But she has advantage leh coz she say I land late (9pm). So only way I can get hotel voucher is if she pick me up.

Nvm, I read 100 plus pages of thus thread. I will survive with all the help of previous bros :D
