New Bie into this area, would like to seek for some advice from the senior here.

Economical way to hatyai
2 of us will be arriving Alor Star airport in the afternoon, will there be any means of transport to our destination Hatyai? Or we need to take a transport to the boarder and seek for other means over in thailand?

Estimate cost from the airport to Hatyai? Taxi? Van? Bus?

Only taxi available to transport you to Danok....should be around RM55. There is van but only 2 people more expensive. The van cater for 10 people.

Take a taxi, there are plenty over there.

Once you are at the Malaysian Duty Free area there is also Thai taxi ferrying people to Hatyai....it been sometime since I take one, it should be around 500-600 bahts for a chartered taxi.(means no sharing with people.)

Or there is another van stand opposite Oscar Hotel in Danok of which they will wait until the van is full (10 people) before they move to Hatyai...around 40 bahts only per person! (have to double check with them in case they have increase the pricing already)

There are buses from Singapore and JB to Hatyai that drop off passengers at Alor Star intercharges around 6 to 7am in the morning. However, I am not sure about the ticketing part at Alor Star.

The interchange drop-off is for people who is taking the Singapore-KL-Hatyai bus but getting down at Alor Setar to be pcik-up by wife, relatives but there are times when no people get off at this interchange.

2) it is quite far from the Alor Setar airport.......!

3) Whether your flight arriving so early or not.

Don't take the risk and just jump into a taxi and go to the border town.....about 45 minutes..max. :D

Agreed thats why I mentioned the timing is around 6 to 7am. The flight probably wont arrive before the time. But this is one option for those who chose to stay overnight in Alor Star. There will be at least 3 buses going to Hatyai from JB or Singapore. It is quitely likely 1 of them will drop by Alor Star. Only concern is that there might be no ticketing counter selling tickets from Alor Star to Hatyai!!!

After u arrive in danok u can just walk staight to the 7-11 on the left lane. oppisite oscar hotel(right lane)theres a small table counter there u can puchase van ticket at 55baht per pax.the van will be fill up quite soon the most 20-30mins & abt 45mins journey to hatyai from danok.Must try out the 'or lua'(oyster egg) in hatyai,many 'or' & its huge compare to sg!good for building up power:D

Btw have u been in danok?if u haven should stay for two days there.the cheong scene is much more happening then current hatyai.Have fun:p
