just got back .. and skipped manila altogether .. or More or less, was not allowed to be in Manila .. went straight to the mountains ..

Lucky for me, the weather held, though on my departure .. the heavens opened up .. thank God ..

Well, for a little scary part ..

SQ for some reason is subjecting passengers to secondary screening - so, in front of everybody, at the check in counter, they ask you to open you bag before checking in .. even though the bags passed the X-Ray machine.. maybe they don't trust the x-ray machine of the NAIA

I'll be in Makati Dec 3-15. Anyone want to hang out, get some drinks, check out the local eye candy?

Also any recs for weekend trips? Is it worth it to fly to say Boracay sat morning, come back sunday night?

This is no difference in Changi Airport, where our SQ scan/checks when you enter the gate......In Manila, unfortunately they do not do it to everybody....they do skip, especially if you dressed up in biz attire....etc.

Anyway, this is good practice....keep our flight safe !

well, for weekend ? head to Peurto Galera, as it is just near Manila .. unless you want to take a flight to Kalibo and spend the hour plus plus to Boracay, or fly to Caticlan direct for a higher fee .. (if you can grab cheaper flights, good on you .. otherwise .. no comments .. )

If you gonna be in Makati for 12 days, man, that's a lot of time .. I hope you are keeping yourself busy .. and learn to stretch your dollar ;)

Actually, in NAIA T1, they force everybody to remove the belts also .. and all bags must go through the X Ray before you go to Check in .. but I wonder if they are able to interprete properly what appears in the X Ray machine .. or rather, that rule applies to the mere mortals like us .. (yes, I saw a well dressed Pinay Tai Tai, who weaved and waved her way through the X-ray, not even putting her hand bag into the X Ray .. and even decided to jump the queue in the Business Class line .. and it was all over in less than 10 minutes - she was on her way to Immigration having immensely helped by the counter staff and all around - maybe they knew her, or most likely got pinoy style - got intimidated by her and let her have her way ..

And no, she didn't have to open her bags, and even at the waiting lounge she breezed her way through like a princess .. not even stopping for the security check before the gate

And if you notice, if you are taking laptops, you got to place them seperately into the scanner, in Changi and KUL, not in NAIA though ..

AF1 promotions .. early Christmas .. ;)

Also remember, December is the time everybody wants happiness - i.e wants 'sponsors' (or people with too much money so that can be taken care of .. ) - so much so even poor guys can be targetted .. like the recent 7-11 shootout that could have netted not more than 5,000 peso .. and a hold up of a woman's handphone .. all in the name of Christmas expenses ..

yes, be safe ..

Agreed...It is very difficult to stay in Makati for more than 2 days.
Besides Ayala Malls, SM Makati, Greenbelt 1 to 5 and P.Burgos etc, where to go???:(

well, if you got money, P Burgos can entertain you for days .. or more ;)

And if you got local company, you can head to and check out Meralco Ave, Tabu @ Legazpi and the likes .. more quiter zones .. and a run to Pasay Resorts world or the Hyatt Casino at Malate can freshen up things ..

Yes, and hence my recommendation to pay as much as possible large expenses on Credit Card and stick to ATMs, when running out of money .. screw the 200 peso withdrawal charge- for 10,000 peso - 200 peso is still worth it, in Manila, at this time of the year, where everybody wants money for christmas shopping, from the Philippines Finest onwards ..
