In the days that follow, we didnt contact each other. Just the occassional hi bye when she send her kids to school, buying grocery etc.

That was until one night, my wife and me heard her talking loudly on her hp at the staircase. Due to both of our units situated at the corner,
there was a staircase. My wife chose to ignore as its none of our business, but i was concerned due to it was late at night and she sounded agitated.

My wife went to bath, and knowing she would take about half an hour for her shower. I went out to check on her.

MEi: Hi John, nothing serious. I was just talking to my son's form teacher. She called me up and said that my son has been skipping school for the past 2 days.
When i confronted him, he said he wants to quit school and leave this family. Apparently, it was due to the constant quarrel between me and my husband. I felt i had neglected him.

Me: Ok, i understand. Dont worry, i help u talk to him if u want me to.

Her eyes lid up at once.

Mei: Really? I was hoping that someone might talk sense into him. Thank you so much.

I proceeded to gave her a reassuring pat on her back.

Me: Ok, now u go back. I will find a chance talk to him tomorrow.

I hurried back before my wife came out and find me missing.



Next Day

My wife slept late last night and wont be up till 1 pm when i bought lunch back for her, so around 10 am i went to Mei's house.

Me: Hey Alvin, wanna go out with me for a spin? I called him out from his main gate and he was in the living room watching tv.

So we went out driving around and to Macs. I ordered some food for him and talked to him like a friend.

Me: So Alvin, heard you have been skipping school for the past 2 days? U dont't like schooling?

Alvin: I hate school and studying for exams. I want to play games and watch tv. I hate it when my parents quarrel, it makes me want to run away from home.

Me: Well, when i was your age, i thought of the same thing. But then i realised that i had unknowingly hurt and disappoint my parents. Studying is for your own good.
When your parents quarrel, it is a form of communication just that the attitude is wrong. Yr parents love u and always want the best for you.

Alvin was quiet and solemn after listening to my words.

Alvin: Ok, Uncle John. I realised my fault and will change. I will go back and say sorry to my mum for behaving badly that day.

While he was eating his burger and fries, i took out my hp and msg Mei.

Me: "Mei, i have talked some sense into Alvin. He will apologise to you when he's back home later. All settled, no worries."

A msg came within a minute later. It was from Mei.

Mei: "John, a million thanks to you. I dont know what to do without your help. Let me know in future if u need any help from me".

In my mind, i have some plan coming up. In the last post, i mentioned the seed has been planted. Now its time to water before the the next step.

My wife will be away on a company training trip for 6 months. There will be no one to wash the laundry and clean up the house.
