Re: Colours In Thai...

i was chatting with Dailo(SN) while boozing saturday night away..
we somehow talked abt colours(dun know why..cant remember)
so here i post a list of colours in Thai here...

The Thai word for colour is "see". When naming a colour you should say "see" first.

For example: Red is "see daeng" or "colour red".

Light Dark
aorn gae

White Brown
kow nam dtan

Beige Grey
keem tow

Yellow Black
lueang dum

Orange Silver
som ngern

Red Gold
daeng tong

Pink
chom poo

Light Blue
fa

Blue
nam ngern

Violet
muang

Green
kiaw

Bro Cyberaid,
Interesting lesson! I checkout other thread on quickie thai lessons with good contributions by SRT and Korb. Good thing is examples on usage (or else make fatal errors).. Just trying to build up my 50 word vocab to bs puyings hehe. Jokes aside, makes interesting conversation piece (or break ice) with locals, nvm laughing at my expense. Gotta use it somehow, or lose it.

So can I say

Phom gae liao (me old leh)
Whisky lao gae (puying trying a fast 1 on me, heavy handed with whisky in my soda)?

Koh pun kap (minus the r instead of krap?):o

Excellent effort here to share your knowledge of thai language, really appreciated it. Just some little input to add on about Dark - gae.

gae (แก่) in thai can be used in many ways, it can mean old, gae liao (แก่ แล้ว) mean old already. It can mean too thick in this scenario. lao gae (เหล้า แก่) = liquor is too thick. It can mean too ripe when used in fruits. poh la mai gae (ผลไม้ แก่) = fruit is too ripe. As for color, you can use gae (แก่) also, but I think the more appropriate way to describe it should be see khem (สี เข้ม) instead of see gae (สี แก่).

My 2 satangs.

Regards.

well...well...well..we always learn something everything...and today i gained some part of it..thanx brudder!
and kudos to you...will cont'd to input more of these in the future...

Re: It is important to learn Thai numbers.

It is important to learn Thai numbers.

One nueng
Two song
Three sam
Four see
Five har
Six hok
Seven jed
Eight bad
Nine gao
Ten sib
Eleven sib et
Twelve sib song
Thirteen sib sam

Once you can count 1-11 the rest will be very easy.
From twelve to nineteen you just repeat the same formula:

14 = 10 + 4 (sib see)
15 = 10 + 5 (sib ha)

However, after twenty..thats a different case liao...
see this,
Twenty yee sib (Take note its no more song sib)
Twenty One yee sib et ( Take note its no more yee sib neung!!)
Twenty Two yee sib song
Twenty Three yee sib sam

Again, from twenty two to twenty nine you repeat the same formula:

24 = 20 + 4 (yee sib see)
25 = 20 + 5 (yee sib ha)

Thirty
sam sib
Forty see sib

By now you should be able to count all the way to one hundred.

60 = 6 x 10 (hok sib)
70 = 7 x 10 (jed sib)

One Hundred nueng roi
Two Hundred song roi

One Thousand nueng pun
Two Thousand song pun

Ten Thousand nueng muen

If you haven't learned all of the numbers by the time you arrive in Thailand don't worry. All shops use Arabic numerals so it will be easy for you to read. The only time you will see Thai numerals is in a school.

On bro TV's birthday, a samster Nanog69 posted a statement to imply that bro TV's children have below average iQ. I zapped him.

Nanog69 claimed that it was a general advice but I think not, as he has some sort of a flame war with bro TV.

Maybe I am wrong. So I start a poll for other samsters point of view.

Poll - What Is Nanog69's Intention In His Statement?

If I am wrong, I will make an apology to Nanog69.

Hi all

Long long long time no see...

I almost never come into this forum unless I am overseas so you guess it. I am in H City now.

Been to Waterbar but it is very quiet.

Any updates or pointers do let me know. Its been 8 mths since I am here.

As usual, I will give some FR (like I always do when I am in Thailand) when I find sometime.

well it not wise for nanog69 to insult tv's children. this is between him n tv, not family.

this really buay gum.

Note to Nanog69, pls do not insult other pple family. if u not happy with the person just go for the person n not insulting the person family. this will show how low a person u are.....

Cheers
